Last year, the Nissan Rogue Sport made its highly anticipated debut at our Bergen County, New Jersey dealership location. The 2018 edition did not come with any changes since the debuting model had so much to offer including standard & available features such as:
- RearView Monitor
- Siri Eyes Free
- Divide-N-Hide cargo management system
- Heated front seats
- Around View Monitor with moving object detection
- Up to 61.1 cubic feet of cargo room
However, there has been a mid-year update deemed the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport that has given this compact crossover SUV a few changes for the better. Like the 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport, this model will be available with either FWD or Intelligent AWD in the base S, mid-level SV and top-of-the-line SL trim level.
With that being said, let’s take a look at the 4 safety technologies that have either been updated in the 2018.5 edition of this popular vehicle.
1. Automatic Emergency Braking
The first feature we want to talk about is automatic emergency braking, which is a new feature that now comes standard in many of our most popular models. It also now comes standard in the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport and it helps prevents collisions by sensing the distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
Using a radar sensor and a camera installed behind the windshield, this system offers 2 visual & audible warnings to let you know when your approaching that vehicle too quickly while applying the brakes. If an accident is imminent, the brakes get applied harder automatically to help prevent a crash or minimize injury in the event of one.
2. Blind Spot Warning
North New Jersey is full of highway driving conditions, whether it’s a road with multiple lanes & lights like Route 17 or Route 46, roads where the speed is even faster like the Turnpike or Garden State Parkway and multi-lane roads around town. Either way, changing lanes is an inevitability.
And blind spot warning makes it so much easier since it acts as a second set of eyes. Using radar sensors near the rear bumper, this feature detects when another vehicle goes into your blind spot on either side and you’ll get an illuminated warning and a chime if you use your blinker. This sought-after feature now comes standard in the Rogue Sport.
3. Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Paired with its partner in crash prevention, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert is designed for when the Rogue Sport is in reverse at less than 5 mph. This technology visually and audibly alerts you when another vehicle is approaching yours from the side when you’re backing out of your driveway or a parking space.
Like blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert also now comes standard in the Rogue Sport. And also like blind spot warning, the radar sensors used to make this feature work for you are also located near the rear bumper of this compact crossover SUV.
4. Intelligent Cruise Control
Formerly an option only and now coming standard in the Rogue Sport SL trim & SV Technology Package, the Nissan intelligent cruise control system allows you to maintain a selected distance between yourself & the vehicle in front of you. It will automatically keep that distance without you needing to hit the gas or apply the brakes.
You can use it as an automatic feature or as a conventional cruise control system if you feel like you want more control. Either way, this upgrade has become more readily available on the 2018.5 Rogue Sport.
